I would say that if there is anything you can grab while running out, that may be ok, otherwise your life is far more precious than anything you may be risking to go looking for in a burning house.

Actual items and not people: Driver License and Social Security card...without these it is incredibly difficult to get anything else.

My husband had a huge fire in our kitchen when I was in hospital, after having our second child. He was home alone. The only things he grabbed was his mobile phone and our lap top.
