There is an argument going on between me and three friends over where Mercury's engines are made. We started discussing it one day, and we've been disagreeing ever since then. I know it's a boring topic, but we're dull people haha...

Mercury car engines are made in various places depending on what year and model you are talking about. Traditionally were usually made here in the U.S. with production of many to most of them shifting to Canada a few years ago along with many Ford engines as well. Some odd cars such as the old Mercury Capri convertible from the early 90's or late 80's were made in Australia as I think the whole car was. Also when Ford and Mercury came out with some of the higher performance versions of the Mustang and Mercury Capri (not the little convertible model) about 20 years or less back the engines in them first came from a huge warehouse stock also in Australia as the U.S. had run out of the right kind with the temporary death of the muscle car here. When performance started to come back they had to scour the factories to find engines to use. As been posted here already, most of them nowdays are Canadian build as well as the assembly of the cars themselves. Same with many Chrysler and GM products as well. There is a way to tell your particular one based on vehicle VIN code on the windshield and using the codes there to tell exactly where all this happened.

Mercury, like Lincoln, is Ford. So if you're talking older engines, they were made in that third world country where people tend to shoot at each other for no reason, Detroit, MI.

The new ones are being made in our neighbor to the north eh? Canada.
