Everbody always talk about the yankees and how they always spend money and how money does'nt buy a ring. Well, how come i don't hear anyone complaining about how the Red Sox have been throwing their money around this offseason ? The Red Sox look good on paper but they will find out just like the yankees that money does not buy a ring. Anything can happen over 162 games afterall who thought the tigers would be in the world series ?. I'm a yankee fan but if Santana and Liriano stay healthy then the twins should be the favorite to win it all.

People aren't complaining because the Sawx are spending money like water on players that aren't worth the $$$, in fact, people are more than likely laughing at the Red Sox for being idiots this winter.

It's true, money cannot buy you a championship.

But you have to know there are alot of fans out there who are NOT Red Sox Fans. As for the Yankees, i hate those the fans (Not all) that always pursue how good there team is no matter how bad they are doing.

Which would also show how loyal and how much respect they have for the game.

I don't see a reason why people should complain about the Red Sox because there is nothing to cmplain about. They have Ortiz, Manny, Daisuke, what is there to complain about?

If you want complaining, come to Minnesota. We have soo much problems going on with the Twins side now. We have no good 3rd basemen, 3 players fighting for a left fielder spot, and we have a DH spot that we need help on. Phenom Liriano is out for the whole season, Former Ace Radke is retired. We are the one who are complaining, not you guys,

I wouldn't be complaining about anything with the Red Sox or Yankees no matter how much money you/they spend. Like GP said, anything can happen. Its all a coin toss with 162 games.

Look. Yes a lot of Red Sox complain about that. Me? No way. The Yanks are a great team(even if they spend lots of $$$ for the team). Most of the Red Sox are farm players. They have helped the Sox win(Lowrie, Pedroia, Youkilis, Ellsbury, Papelbon, Masterson, and Lester.) Every team needs to get players that were not part of the system. By the way, why would you bring up Manny? Yeah he was a Red Sox, but last time i checked he isn't a red sox anymore. PS: The Celtics and Red Sox are not one bit the same. The Celtics traded for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. They had other people on the team. Ray Allen sucked in the Postseason and they still won it all.

For me, money is not the issue.
It's their money, they can spend it anyway they want.

I reason I complain about the yankees so much is because of the attitude of MOST (not all) of their fans.

The fans just automatically assume they will win the world series every year. It's to those fans that I state the simple fact that the yankees havent won a world series in the 21st century.

They are a few really knowledgeable yankee fans here that I respect (The Mick "7", Katalex, King, ynke#7TheMick, Ozgard, and a few others)
because they know the yankees have to actually play the games.

That is why I do not complain about The Red Sox.

The last sentence of your question is the key-obviously you are a yankee fan. Of course you'd rather spread the negativity than keep it all to yourselves. People "complain" about the yankees because it's valid. The Red Sox are finally being aggressive about building the team this year. They are not trying to "buy a ring" just like the Yankees. They are trying to give depth and stability to weak or problem areas, and look toward the future.
If you hate them so much, why do you even care?

Because, quite frankly, baseball fans are sick and tired of the Yankees having the top payroll in baseball every year for the past 20 years, so at this point, the majority of non-Yankee fans will accept ANYBODY who spends money enough to compete with the Yankees.

Seems kind of like the pot calling the kettle black for a Yankees fan...a fan of a team that STILL has the highest payroll in baseball, and among the people who have defended the Yankees spending for YEARS are now all of a sudden upset that another team is willing to spend money too.

Seems like Yankee fans are afraid of competition. Why else would they be so worked up that another team is starting to spend the same kind of money they do. I suppose they'd rather have every other team spend like Kansas City or Tampa Bay, so they could have an easier time...but then again, even with their payroll, they manage to choke every year since the new millenium (2001).

Sounds like Yankee fans are being poor sports. Lots of sour grapes in New York in this off season.

People aren't complaining because the Red Sox won a world series very recently. If they won it again this year, people might think the money was well spent. I don't think too many people were saying that money doesn't buy a ring back when the Yankees won 3 in a row in the late 90's. Believe me, people will complain if the Red Sox fall flat. The type of money they are discussing giving JD Drew is insane considering he is not a consistent performer.

I don't complain about the Red Sux because I didn't see anything wrong with the Yankees doing it. I like to point out to the Sux fans that I know about their spending but they don't like to address that.

Money can handcuff a manager. Torre felt that it was unlikely that Arod was going to come through against Detroit and all he could do was move him to 6th and 8th. How do you play Cabrera and leave Shef on the bench without the Boss freaking out at you. And then almost getting fired for doing what he wanted... New York has 12 guys that HAVE to be in the starting lineup or you get questioned by the media or by Steinbrenner because he's paying them. Detroit has a great team that stumbled a little down the stretch, but a great team nonetheless and all people could talk about was the Yankee price tag and their coming up short.

Money buys last years stars, it doesn't ensure that you have this year's bumper crop. Its like using Bill James stats to predict who will shine. It just predicts the most likely outcome in past events.

yep you are a true yankee fan ignorant arrogant and cocky as all hell and classless just like most of the yankees fans on this forum the yankees are a disgrace to the game it's unfortunatle that teams feel the need to increase their payrolls to compete with the yankees the yankees are everything that's wrong with baseball oh and by the way the redsox are not like the yankees where as the yankees bring in all of the best players in free agency the redsox are just trying to fix certain problem areas

The RedSux are the new "EVIL Empire" and you're right they still have to play 162 games like everyone else. We've seen that spending tons of money doesn't mean success. Look at the Yankees and their payroll.
The Tigers were hot out of the gate last season and they should be there again next season.
My money's on the home team.
