Well, there are no stupid questions, there are stupid answers. So .... if you need to find x or y, you need to see what you have . You have the answer and you have one of the numbers that if you multiply it by the unknown you will get the result, that you already know. So let's say for ex.: 5x= 15. You know that you have 15, this is what you get by multiplying two numbers. So in order to get 15 you need to multiply 5 by 3 is 15, so your answer would be 3. if your equation is negative -5x=15, the your answer would be negative, because negative times negative equals positive.
In your case the answer will be 7 or negative 7. It depends with equation do you have.
