Yes. My father was getting ssi and I got it until I turned 18, and no her father does not need to be dead in order for her to get it. That's bull.

The only way she would qualify for SSI is if her father passed away and she was still under the age of 18.

Why don't you call the Social Security Service and ask them. I understand that you can also e-mail them for questions resolutions. I suspect it depends on who has custody of the child if there is a separation. In addition, orders of child support from the courts may enter into this.

My uncle got SSI and his ex got SSI for their girls because he could no longer work and pay child support

Maybe instead of trying to work the system, you should get out and get a decent job so you can support your daughter on your own. Trust me, it feels much better when you're able to do it without leaning on anyone else.

You must be a Democrat, always wanting something for nothing. Some people have to work for a living and to support their kids, while others try to suck the system dry....don't be one of the ones who suck the system....

I was divorced from my wife when I received Social Security for a disability. The government also sent a check ($200+ ???) to my ex-wife for child support.

yes you can call ssi . thay will give you all that back pay you need his ss# thats all good luck to you
