When I was early in my pregnancy (currently at 32 weeks) I had a real bad pain in my hips. I didn't think much about it since the body is adjusting to a very big change. I have been going to the chiropractor for my back~~ just make sure you tell them you are pregnant.

I'm currently 36 weeks (and miserable too) and I'm expereiencing pains in my hips too. There are days that I can't move. My pains are deep in the middle of my hip/butt area. I'm pretty sure the baby is pushing on the Sciotic Nerve. This is # 2 and it is worse than the 1st time around. It last almost 2 weeks straight the 1st time. I was told by both drs (i've moved since the 1st time) to take tylenol, take it easy, prop up, stay off my feet as much as possible, and put a heating pad on it. My current Dr, told me I could go see a chiropractor if I wanted. But I can't do that b/c of my daughter and b/c I'm too big to drive my car :( (cry) This time the pains have come more often but only lasted a few days at a time. Currently I'm as big as a whale and the weight i've gained (33 lbs) is making it hard to do much and I have to keep up with the 2 yr old. Take it easy and rest when you can. Remember that it's still very early for you. Good luck.

It sounds like it could be sciatica (sp?) as that sounds a bit like the pains I would get when I had it. Give your doctor a call and let them know what's going on. Your doctor would be able to give you more detailed advice since they know you.
As for the chiropractor... I saw a chiropractor during my last pregnancy. He did wonders for my back pain that was due to the extra weight from the baby, but he could do nothing for the sciatica. Sciatica is a nerve condition and the chiropractor deals with muscles and bones (as far as I know). A heating pad applied to where I had my pains was the only thing that even started to relieve them.
Good luck.

Your hip and pelvic bones are adjusting to get ready for baby. I am 26 weeks pregnant, and I am still experiencing it. If you do anything strenuous at all, it can cause the pain. Try not to pick up anything real heavy, avoid bending over a lot, and when you walk, don't take long strides. It is perfectly normal, so don't worry. You can go to any of the pregnancy websites, such as babycenter.com to learn more. Just Google it!

It could be sciatica - not uncommon in early pregnancy, I had it too. Go see a doctor before you see a chiropractor. They won't be able to x-ray you, but should be able to do something. With mine, massage was the best - my husband would massage me from my lower back, down my hip and thigh.

yes darling its normal and sorry to tell ya' but it only gets worse. try laying on you side not directly on your back. try excercising too. (ask your doc what he recommends) that helps to get your back stronger
