I'm 13, my mom makes me wear a bra. I know she's right but I dont like it. Saturday I went to a mall to have lunch with some friends and their parents, we would hang out after lunch. It was hot and I came to the mall braless. I didn't know, but mom would join us after her classes, she's a teacher. Well, she noticed I was braless. She told the guys she'd have to leave with me for some moments, took me to a store, baought me a bra and made me put it on. I got embarassed, the attendant at the shop laughed a lot. Mom was not mad at me and was nice, but said See hun? You can't deceive your mom. My friends and their parents didn't notice what happened but some of my friends noticed I was braless before mom came and was wearing one after we came back, and later they laughed too. Nothing bad, but I got embarrassed. After lunch I complained to mom she had embarrassed me. She just laughed, kissed, said I had no reason to get embarrassed and made me promise I wouldn't do that again.

You are of the age where you should be wearing a bra... I think your Mom did a good job. She didn't flat out tell everyone what was going on, yes, they figured it out, but that's part your fault. Try finding a bra that really fits you well and is more comfortable- some can be uncomfortable-especially if you get the wrong size. But by all means, you should wear a bra- your mom is correct on this.

Well, I don't think your mother should have embarrassed you like that at all. You two should come to a compromise. Depending on the size of your chest why don't you ask if you can wear a tank top with the built in support, or even a sports bra? Bras have one purpose and one purpose only, to keep people from seeing your breasts. I don't know where all the myths came from that your boobs will sag without them. THAT IS NOT TRUE. If your breasts are meant to sag they will sag, if not then they won't. There is no evidence of any kind that says its true. If you look at all the women in african tribes who do not wears our blessed bras, or any shirt for that matter, you will see that most of them are as perky as ours. They cause of sagging is from the engorgement during pregnancy/nursing and just flat out old age. If bras remain uncomfy till your 18 feel free to go without, until then try to compromise. Research bras and breasts and show your mom the results.

The time was going to come sooner or later and it happened, get over it and move on. Mom was looking out for you and this was her way of doing what she had to do under the circumstances. You say you were supposed to be wearing one and you chose not to and got caught, so she pulled you aside. This wouldn't have happened if you were wearing it in the first place. I think she handled it very well without making a big scene. She could've really iced the cake by making an issue about it in front of everyone.
It was distasteful for the salesclerk to laugh, but this could be a lesson for you to respect others and remember, everyone has feelings and their low moments too. If your friends haven't hit the bra stage yet, be sure to help them out when they need moral support too.
Mom loves you, she wants the best for you, and you shouldn't be mad at her. Just check this one off as another step you had to go through for puberty and know there will be others, but Mom is there to back you up. You are lucky she is there for you. Love her for it!!! :o) She was 13 once too!

I, for one, am thankful that you don't have the kind of mother I have - mine would have shouted it for all to hear, thrown a fit, and bought a bra for me to put on in front of everyone. And then would have made fun of me about it endlessly for the next several months.

I know you don't like wearing a bra, but you need to wear one. It supports your breasts, which will eventually start to sag if you continue to not wear a bra. And the fact that it's noticeable when you don't wear a bra is another reason to wear one. Boys might think you're "easy", they might decide that since you don't wear a bra half the time that they might be allowed to touch you.

I had to start wearing a bra at the end of 3rd grade. I haven't been able to go out in public without a bra since I was 11.

It's really a rite of passage, and you're just going to have to deal with it.

At least your mom is a good mom.

She's right, though - you have no reason to be embarrassed. Your breasts are not something to be ashamed of. You just need to wear a bra when you leave the house.

You are getting to the age that a bra is a must. Your mom probably didn't need to make it a big deal right then and there. She did, you will remember it when you are 20, and laugh. If you don't like bras in general, try a sports bra. I am 24 yrs old and I hate bras just as much now as I ever have, so I have to use a sports bra. You'll be fine and all of this will pass.

I understand how embarrassed you must have felt, but do you not feel a little embarrassed that all your Friends saw that you DIDN'T have on a bra before. If it is that noticeable, then you really do need one. It is hard to get used to wearing a bra, but at your age it is past time. My daughter has been wearing a bra since she was 10.She likes sports bras better because she thinks they are more comfortable. Maybe try a sport bra style.

I understand about not liking bras. I hate mine as well, but it is something that you need to wear. Your 13 and your body is developing and without a bra, it's very noticeable. Your mother is only trying to teach you how to be a lady and she's also worried that any one out there could be a pervert and sees her daughters breast. Compromise with your mom. You'll wear the bra, as long as you get to pick it out and try it on before you buy it. You could go with a sports bra, it will probably be more comfortable. Good Luck.

I think your mom was pretty smooth and tactful about the whole situation. If she was able to tell right off the bat that you werent wearing a bra then you need to be wearing one. Although I would feel wierd wearing my moms.

Maybe you could talk to your mom and ask her to take you bra shopping for a few of your very own. Pick out the style that you like and feel comfortable in!

I hate wearing bras as well. I'm 24 years old and look like I need a taining bra. So usually I wear tank tops under the shirt I want to wear. But it also depends on how big you are if you need a bra or not. If any thing wear sportbras they are more comfortable. I'm only a 38A very small. Find one that is comfortable for you and buy them.

Well if it is time to wear one then it is time. In some ways your mom is right but yea I would be embarrassed also. Let her know that next time wait until you get home or not on front of your friends to do that. I was in 5th grade when I started to wear one so I know how you feel about not wanting to but you might as well get used to it now because for the rest of your life you will have too. Good luck!
