mimi22 is half right.
Getting on your knees will fix the problem.
Trust me, they'll forget all about the damn pork chops.

You tried to mentionned that you were not in the mood for pork chops, which was a sensible solution on your part. Next time, eat a little bit of whatever she makes and make sure to bring dessert to our aunt's house upon invitation. It's a win-win. It will come off as a gracious hostess gift and if she offers you food you are not willing to eat, you can say you are saving room for dessert! It's not only a matter of etiquette but also culture (no matter which one you're from). You can never refuse food from someone inviting you to dinner, even if it's somewhat against your will. It is considered rude. (May I remind you of Indiana Jones II and the natives...) You mentionned she thinks she the poorest person on earth, obviously she was trying to offer you dinner as a sign of affection and courtesy.

You didn't do that on purpose. Let them buy some more pork chops and have Dinner at their house, if they want to get mad. In the mean time, order Pizza, if you need a quick fix.

Tell them this isn't a Damn Restaurant and tell them your going to hold your breath until they start eating, once you start turning blue I bet they will feel all bad for your husband because he marry a crazy person and next time they go out they probably will buy him a few drinks, then he will be hitting them up all the time for free drinks and they eventually will get sick of him asking for free drinks and he will be all " hey come on man my Wife is Bat Sh!t crazy" then they'll go hey it's not our fault. He will then not be invited to there social gathering anymore and he will feel alone at work, eventually quiting his job and then start drinking boxed wine and passing out in the neighbors yard.... I think I would just tell them next time you'll use Shake-n-bake.

What rude people! It's not like they had to pay for or cook that dinner. They should've just said "damn. Ok. Wanna order in, I guess?" Your husband is probably whipped by his job, wears the suit even on off days, huh? Bah! You don't need that grief. Next time, make him cook it.

Make a joke out of it. Send them all an invitation to another dinner with something wrote on the card like, "Now that I've finished the burnt offerings, we would like you to come to dinner at our house..."

or

"How about dinner at our house on (date, time). (Your husband's name), is going to cook dinner this time!

or

I'm so excited! I got a new kitchen timer and to celebrate, we'd like you to come to dinner on (date and time).

In past tense? They shouldnt be mad, thats is ungrateful of them. You had other side dishes I presume with the pork chops. They didnt starve.

Burn them again.....That is stupid when your own husband gets mad at you for a kitchen accident....Who cares, it is not the end of the world, tell your husband to grow up.

Try this, say oops I'm sorry. I was so engaged with your stimulating conversation I must have forgotten the meat was sizzling on the stove ! Then ask your husband to help you in the kitchen.
