yeah.. the kenny G thing made me laugh, too. also, people who hate jazz make me giggle a bit, since a lot of the R&B and rock stuff is so derivative. in fact, saying you hate any kind of creative art is a little unenlightened.
i wish i knew what your definition of jazz is b/c they tend to vary, but some great, timeless stuff for the straight-ahead jazz fan:
miles davis - kind of blue; miles davis - four and more; coltrane - blue train; coltrane - a love supreme; ella fitzgerald - the best of the songbook; wes montgomery - smokin at the half note
latin-flavored stuff:
maria rita - maria rita; getz/byrd - jazz samba; antonio carlos jobim - jazz masters series
funk/jazzy stuff that still avoids cheesy "smooth jazz" label:
herbie hancock - headhunters; freddie hubbard - red clay; john scofield - a go go; medeski, martin and wood - shack man
god, there's so much more. that should keep you busy for a bit, though.
happy listening!

I like the Jazz...they were better when they had Karl Malone and John Stockton though.

if you think Kenny G has ANY connection to Jazz, you are stark raving mad. He's the ultimate in lift musak.
