Disable a disk check on Windows XP. It always seems to run when I start the computer. Any tips?

If it does run and scan again, then in Command Prompt type the command chkntfs /x DriveLetter: and press Enter key. Here DriveLetter is the letter of that Disk drive which gets scanned on every boot-up (for example, type chkntfs /x C: if C: drive is scanned every time). This command excludes the specified Disk drive from scanning.

Disk check usually happens when your PC does not shut down properly. Check that everything on you PC is running well and that your PC shuts down without an issue.

Disk Check may stop then.

I think if you Press (Ctrl Alt Delete) and go to Task list you can say "END TASK" or go to that disk check and there may be an option to un-click worded something like Check at start up and un-check that box.

Let the computer finish the scan and it won't do it next time you boot up unless you shut off computer manually.
