This is an enjoyable thinking exercise...

When I think of Germany....
-Industrious, inventive hard working people.
-Quality products.
-Castles on hill tops.
-Quiet, breathtaking countryside that you could stare at all the time.
-Fresh air... perfect humidity.
-Walking, alot of walking and hiking.
-Fortress towns with impressive walls protecting them.
-Cobblestone streets where no cars are allowed and all you hear are the clip clop of horses walking with buggies behind.
-Bakeries with delectible tortes (blackforest cake, sachertorte) & pastries with a convenient cafe next door with rich coffee and Schlagsahne (whipped cream)... the beautiful old fashioned looking breads (rye, sour dough, pumpernickle)
-Trees, lots of trees and greenery on the huge hills/ mountains.
-People who really care about their history, culture, environment and are doing something to protect them and make them better.
-Open air markets with wonderful food... raw and cooked.
-Christmas... Tannenbaum, Christkindlesmarkt, Ornaments, Nutcrackers, Advent calendar and chocolate.
-Music, a wide variety... Mozart, Beethoven, Nina, Rammstein and oompa bands.
-Charming Cookoo clocks
-Beer of course.
-Saurkraut...I love it
-Leder hosen and Durndels (folk clothes)
-I'm not sure why but kinky sex comes to mind too....sorry.
-Deer or stag statues, lots of antlers in some restaurants.
-Autobahn... way too fast, way too fun.
-Small cars, good cars.
(Funny, I think I've burned Hitler out of my association with Germany...Thank Goodness!)
That's off the top of my head in no particular order... I'm sure I could think of more but now I'm hungry for some coffee and cake!
Thanks!

I lived in Germany for over 15 years and If I could afford the cost of living over there , I would live there. I love America but, Germany and the Whole European community has a history that goes back over 2000 years . To walk on cobblestones that Medieval knights crossed is priceless.

I have a friend that lived in Germany, I have only seen pictures, but that is the most beautiful place in the world. I would love to go there. First thing I think of is all the green trees, vineyards and mountains.

I tend to get this warm and fuzzy feeling, like you do right after having eaten a big turkey dinner with a good bottle of wine; and I see lush vegetation, super-clean streets, white stone buildings of immaculate style and sturdiness, I feel the steering wheel and the leather gearshift knob of my old BMW 635 CSi, and I see chestnut trees and old churches and elegantly shaped, tall glasses of foamy Hefeweisse Beer. And I think "what a nice place this is... wish I could be there now" ...

I think first about my Oma and all my aunts and uncles and cousins. Then I think about how beautiful the Alps are how much I enjoy being in Bavaria. Everything is so very clean and lovely. The customs, the food, the beer, the native attire.

I do think about Hitler too. People tend to focus on the horrors that were visited upon the Jews, but the German people that lived during that time also had horrors visited upon them.

Bayern Munich... but it may be only because of the recent Champions League match. Otherwise it would be the map, I guess... and then all the rest: literature, cuisine, history... etc.
