Here is a little known one: Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in people between 25 – 74. Diabetic retinopathy is a disease affecting the blood vessels in the retina (the back layer of the eye).
Cataract ("White Blindness") is another cause in older people. This is treatable.
Chronic Claucoma can also cause blindness. This is preventable.
Some headaches can also signal temporal arteritis, an inflammation that affects arteries in the scalp, brain and eyes. Temporal arthritis can lead to blindness (or stroke) if left untreated.
Retinopathy of prematurity occurs when high levels of oxygen are administered to premature infants, causing scarring and retinal detachment which can lead to blindness.
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) - a hereditary disease, causing degeneration of the retina and blindness.
Vitamin A deficiency can cause blindness.
Rubella virus, transmitted to the foetus by the mother during pregnancy, affects various parts of the eye and can cause blindness.
Toxoplasmosis is an intraocular infection of the unborn child and can cause blindness.
Google some of these for more info.

Blindness is defined within the categories of visual impairment. Visual impairment is based on a persons visual acuity Visual acuity is the ability of the eye to perceive the shape of objects in the direct line of sight. Visual acuity is measured by viewing standardized letters of varying sizes and is expressed as a fraction such as 20/20.
A person is considered legally blind when their best corrected visual acuity is at 20/200. What that means is that the person is able to see at 20 feet what others with normal acuity are able to see at 200 feet.
Loss of vision may affect only the central fields of vision, only the peripheral (side) fields, or it can only affect a specific portion of the peripheral fields in one or both eyes. So how the structure of the eye is affected depends on what part of the eye is affected.
The leading cause of preventable blindness in the world are trachoma, leprosy, onchocerciasis, and xerophthalmia. Also cataracts (curable), Glaucoma, retinal detachment and diabetic retinopathy could be considered avoidable causes of blindness since some form of treatment is available for those disorders.
Oh yes, and there is macular degeneration too. I also think the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) site will be helpful for some stats for you. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs282/en/
Hope this helps a little with your project.

Methanol is the element that causes blindness, alongside with kidney failure and liver damage. that is a style of alcohol (suggested as timber alcohol) that the body can not procedure. that is an identical as in paint thinner, right now. I cant save in ideas what causes it, although, sorry. yet certain, this is linked with incorrect brewing/distilling practices.

Blindness may result because of lack of vitamin A. Take in multivitamins , especially vitamin A. Or you could go and consult an Ophthalmologist to have an eye check up, you may have a cataract in your eyes. And try these great websites:
