It is now illegal for banks to charge you fees for returned direct debits, over drawing charges bouncing cheques. they have to justify to the penny the £25 arbitary charge. If you visit the radio two web site there is a link to a web site that gives you the simple procedure to get the money back. You are entitled to every charge you have incurred over the past six years which could work out to be hundreds of pounds. You have to pay a percentage of your claim but its well worth it. ok

The banks will often do this the first time but whoa betide anyone who forgets again.

Incidentally, all the banks are in big trouble with the regulators regarding such unfair charges so hopefully the days of nasty shocks on our bank statements will soon be at an end.

Banks won't reverse it unless it's "their error". It's funny how you keep thousands of dollars in an account for them to use, but when you fall short by a little they fine you.

I would suggest complaining to the bank Manager. Sometimes, they will cover at least one of the charges for you. You have to sometimes almost be mean with them before they will do this.

Your bank is very kind. Yes,I have seen many people charged for shortages in their balance and many banks are not as nice about it. I to would like to wish your son luck and will say a prayer for him.
