Clever wording! I like pearl necklaces too - as long as they are given along with a box of kleenex!
As to chocolate starfish - yes they are on the menu occasionally!
Rubber sticks? Well any port in a storm!

Awwww.... That's so sweet. If you personally think that he can't handle the financial loss, then decline. But I suggest you accept. He probably thought about it for a long time, and it might make him feel bad if you don't. I think you should accpet because by asking you, what he's doing is showing you that he has decidedthat he can handle it and that he wants you to have it. =)

Reminds me of something that happened about 20 years ago when the song pearl necklace was popular. one of my Navy buddies piped up while we were listening to the song that he wouldn't mind a pearl necklace. Boy didn't we all laugh at him hee hee.

accept the necklace (he sounds like a lovely guy if he's insisting on giving you one), and after telling him how beautiful it is and how much you love it and him, make sure he doesn't feel that he has to buy you expensive gifts all the time, because you love him anyway. but be subtle or he'll think you're ungrateful.

The first part of your question led me to believe that you have a heart...the other details made it clear that you don't as you are more worried about getting dumped than this nice guy with a low paying job saving his hard earned money to spend on someone worthy of it.

lol - you should accept the offer of a pearl necklace with grace. After all he will be putting the effort into giving you one so will get as much, possibly more pleasure than you get in receiving it!

I think it's nice he wants to get you a nice gift, but if I were in a similar situation I wouldn't want him to spend the money to buy me something he doesn't have the resources for. Instead, I would suggest saving his money cause realistically I wouldn't want to deal with a broke boyfriend.

guess what....tell him to save his money and to go find someone who will appreciate his thoughtfulness. If you are for real, it is probably hard for him and maybe he is even doing without some things in order to save the money to buy you something special.....shame on you for being so self centered about this and for mocking him! He deserves better...so unless you really care for him and are going to treat him with respect and kindness, don't accept those pearls and go find someone else.....hope you come to your senses....
