gotta side with the rest on this one , usually the chain drive is the most reliable part of the whole affair,i think yours takes motor oil ( confirm that before you fill it )

Unfortunatly this may well be a complication-loose undertaking with those circumstances. there's a small steel anti-rattle clip in the rear case 0.5 that has a tendency to interrupt. while this happens the protecting lug for the pump wears for the time of the case itself. this difficulty is produced from a magnesium alloy and could not be repaired with classic aluminum tig welding techniques. you may verify with interior of sight metallic fab shops to work out approximately welding, however the lacking steel positioned on plate is barely avaliable as area of the rear case 0.5. the two way the case will could be bumped off and disassembled. on an identical time as that is aside heavily look in any respect the bearings and enormously the chain for positioned on. (Iwould recomend changing the chain any way if over 70,000 mi.) If the case is completed of fluid you may try it in all ranges and independent earlier removal. (verify for any themes earlier teardown to maintain the complication of doing it back!) sturdy success.

well you didnt even say what vehicle you have let alone what case you have

the clunk can be one of about a dozen other things such as bad u joint, loose driveshaft loose axle u bolt and so forth

its highly unlikely there is a chain adjustment and that its the chain doing it

have parts inspected under the truck, something is worn out or loose

good luck
