How can i scan a folder automatically always without manual assistance?

i want to scan a desired folder automatically 1 minute / 2 min when i download a file which i set a seperate folder for downloaded files when im connected to the Internet.

bcoz i can prevent viruses etc ... without entering my system.

I am guessing you could write a simple script (or a batch file) that scans that folder, then set up a scheduled task (in the control panel) to launch that batch file/script on the frequency you wish. Without knowing which AV you are using, sometimes there are native commands available via command line that can simplify the creation of the batch file. I am also assuming you are using XP and not Mac.
