Blindness increases the sensitivity of the other senses. So no doubt as a blind squirrel roams his well developed sense of smell will be able to pick up an acorn or two. And so what if he doesn't find an acorn. He will find something else that's edible....around some easy to get to garden.
Now if you want to apply this saying to people....especially those that are not physically blind but mentally blind....yes...once in a while they too will stumble on an acorn. Thing is...will they be able to overcome their blindness and recognize that the acorn is "edible" or will they just pass it by.

Probably not. I would imagine they starve to death pretty quickly, because I've never seen a squirrel running around with one of those walking cane things wearing dark sunglasses... They must not live too long, or surely I'd have seen one...
