They are required by law. I believe the Americans with Disabilities Act. For the most part the law is a good thing, however, like a lot of laws, it does have its ridiculous applications.

If you are making ATM machines, are you going to make one without braille keys, for the drive through versions, and one with for the non-drive through version?

I wouldn't.

Obviously, the blind person has someone drive them to the bank and then in order not to compromise thier financial information they can use the ATM by themselves. Then they don't have to give someone thier password, etc.

Well, we are trying to mainstream many member of our society into a normal life.

And seeing how some folks drive, they couldn't be any worse
