To see Dad in jail - it was on the Isle of Wight, so we'd get a few visits in during the week.

I managed a couple of trips to America and Canada (family and friends of my parents over there). When I was a little older my parents got a touring caravan so a few horrible holidays in the stinking hot heat of France and Spain with sunburn and outside toilets to contend with!

Hunstanton, Great Yarmouth or Skegness, in caravans where you had to light the gas mantles, go to the toilet blocks for all your ablutions, and get the water from the communal tap! No tv `cos there wasn`t any electricity only gas. We used to read a lot of comics, or do puzzle books. Seriously! Well it was in the 60`s!

Los Vegas, frequently, and occasionally Reno. (The 8-hour car ride to LV is insufferable, but to me, scenic.) I think it's only fun when you can legally drink and gamble, 'cause I usually ended up blowing a ton of time at the arcades with my sister. I once went to the Grand Canyon, and that was very pretty, and I've gone skiing in Lake Tahoe. My family also once flew over to Hawaii, my most vivid memory of which is getting sick in the rental car (from eating too many peanuts!!).

My dad used to have a shut down at the factory where he worked in Liverpool every summer. So every summer from 71 we went camping - for like 14 years. All over the UK, Scotland, Wales etc and it was brilliant. Used to go fishing and 'cockling' and take a Kagool & Wellies. When I was in 3rd yr Juniors (I think about 10 yrs old) we went to Malta for 2 weeks. I was also dead lucky - in Junior school we went to Staiths & Columendy. In comprehensive school I went in 3rd yr to Switzerland (had my 1st snog on the coach journey with Suzanne (wahahaha ;-) ) & then I did 2 years German exchange. I guess looking back I was lucky! Extra pressie for mum and dad this year then. Thanks for making me remember!

Didn't really go on many holidays. Went to a holiday cottage near Stirling a few times with my grandparents and spent a week in York. Usually though we just went to stay with family (in Hastings......)

We went to Long Beach, WA. We always rented a big house right on the beach and everyone in the family that could be there showed up.
