you could try getting a cage and putting it down with a bit of cheese in it and if you stay really quite and still it should run inside then just shut the door and take it to a field in the middle of nowhere and let it go
or
you could look in the yellow phone book and call someone to come and get your rat for you

There was a rat in my morning room yesterday. Very dead, half eaten, some sicked up. Oh the joys of keeping cats.

Well ALWAYS keep you Cupboards Closed other lise you will be starving like a rat (Wait he's eaten you food- not so hungry) well you know you'lle be starving. and on a weekend- close the kitchen door (IF YOU CAN) and open the garden door and he will get bored and starved and go outside and to stop him getting in KEEP YOUR DOOR CLOSED!

The horrible thing is I did have a rat ...a big one! under my kitchen sink ...it terrorised me for a week....but my husband set a trap for it and then bashed his furry little brains out...I cried all night...I wanted him to catch it, put it in a shoe box, drive to the country and set it free in a nice field somewhere far far away x
