I knew someone that had a couple oscars who were sharing a tank with a couple of snails. One particular oscar did not like one particular snail and would do something similar to yours. He would pick up the gravel and continuously spit them at the snail until he knocked him off the glass. When he succeeded in knocking him off, he swam away contently. So he could be bored, could possibly be eating the algae (although I highly doubt it), could be trying to make a nest, OR he could just really not like his reflection.
Now, unless he gets a team of oscars with him who help him throw these rocks at the exact same spot every time they spit it out (24/7!), I really don't think you need to worry about the tank cracking/breaking.

My fish also do that. The small pieces of gravel will have small amounts of algae on them which fish love, they'll just be sucking that off the gravel and then spitting the stones back out. Rather like us eating a cherry and spitting the stone out. The tank should be fine their 'spitting' force wouldn't be strong enough to break glass.

This is a normal behavior of egg laying fish. Normally they make a kind of cave by removing the gravels around the chosen area to lay eggs. Some bottom feeders also remove the gravel to seek the foods in debris. I don't know much about oscars but seek some information what oscars need to lay eggs on (though I have heard it is not that simple to breed oscars).

lol i dont think it would break the glass. i have a 6 in fantail that does the same thing to my tank. there simply sifting through the gravel looking for scraps. make sure you have large gravel because sometimes those little gravels can become stuck in there mouth. also what kind of fish do u have? maybe he doing it beacuse he is setting up his territory. my famale oscar did that she whould take the gravel and move it to the other side of the tank. lol it was funny to watch her!

Fish pick up rocks and roll them around in their mouths to pick up little bits of food and algae stuck to the rocks to eat and then they spit the rocks out. I don't think it will break your tank.

what kind of fish?
fish clean the rocks and look for debris in between them.
not sure about breaking the tank, I guess it depends on how "cheap" the tank glass is, and how big the rocks are, and how forceful he is throwing them!
My oscars used to throw theirs as they made their "nests".

I wonder if he's attacking his reflection? It would take a lot of force to break the tank, I'd be amazed if a fish could spit that hard.

It's part of his escape plan. He's weakening the glass at one spot and when it finally breaks, he's out of there!
My suggestion is thicker glass, a sort of maximum security prison for fish.

When my turtle runs towards the wall of the tank he's either fighting his reflection, wanting my attention, or better yet, extremely bored. I mean who wouldn't want to run up to a wall when bored?

ah, Oscar, they are something else!
be careful about your gravel, they pick it up and could get it stuck in their mouth, I suggest getting larger rocks.
