Hello all!
We have a 2000 F150 and as of 2 months ago the ABS light has stayed on but the truck is driving and braking fine. Could it be a short in the sensor?

Go to the dealer tell them you need an abs sensor part number F85Z-2L373-AC $22.95... they are pretty common. I work at a ford dealer.... i had to put one in my truck and my brother-in-laws truck also... very simple one bolt holds it in i belive it is 10mm and one plug...its right on top of the differential... hope this helps

I think you are on the right track by thinking it is a short. I have worked on alot of vehicles and most of the time when the abs light stays on it is due to a short. Call around and find a shop that has a code sensor. It should tell you exactly where the short is. Most shops will charge around $40.00 to hook up the tester, however, if you choose to let them do the repair they will generaly waive the fee and just charge you for the repairs. Your best bet is to go directly to a Ford dealer, you will pay a little more but it is worth it.

The light means there is a problem in your ABS system and it may not work properly the next time you make a panic stop, and the brakes may lock up as if you didn't have ABS. The truck will continue to brake normally, but take it in as soon as you can.

BASICALLY WHEN THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON THE COMPUTER HAS PICKED UP A FAULT AND DISENGAGED YOUR ABS SYSTEM. IT STILL BRAKES FINE AND USUALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKES. IT IS USUALLY A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. TAKE THE TRUCK TO A REPAIR FACILITY HAVE THEM CHECK FOR CODES AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.

unlikley.
The switch will operate on a high differential pressure when detected bythe switch. Remove the positive battery lead truck not running and see if the alarm will clear.
If not get the brakes bleed bay a good repair shop.
