Gasoline/petrol engines use a spark plug to ignite the air-fuel mixture. Diesel fuel won't ignite in that environment. It's designed to work only in a diesel engine.
Diesel engines don't use spark plugs. Instead, they compress the air-fuel mixture much more, and it ignites spontaneously. A gas engine has a compression ratio of 7:1 to maybe 11:1 on a very high performance engine. Diesel engines use a compression ratio of maybe 20:1. If you tried to use gasoline in a diesel engine, it would ignite much too early, and the engine wouldn't run.

The petrol engine is a spark ignited engine.The compression ratio is relatively low compared to a diesel engine.
With this compression ratio the gas will not reach its flashpoint, which is why you need the spark plug to ignite it.So the gas just substitutes petrol without too much of adverse effects.
But the diesel engine is a compression ignition engine.
Its compression ratio is so high that at maximum compression the temperature in the combustion chamber is more than the flashpoint of diesel.
The reason why diesel ignites in a diesel engine.
Gas has a much lower flashpoint than diesel.So if use in a diesel engine it might ignite much before the piston reaches anywhere near its TDC.The result would be a broken engine block.
But... if scientifically modified, to reduce compression ratio to adapt to gas, it is possible to run a diesel engine on gas.
But gas is already being used partially in diesel engines.
Gas from gobar gas generators are fed at a small rate to diesel engines through the air intake.Diesel goes in through the injector as usual.
But the engine uses less diesel, which is easily noticeable when the speed governor moves to decrease the diesel flow as soon as the gas goes into the engine.
I have seen generators and pumps working with such a mix of diesel and gobar gas without any problem

Buddy in petrol engines the fuel goes through a carb or multi point fuel injection to the bore and the spark ignites the fuel air mixture for the combustion to happen....however in the diesel there is no spark plug to ignite the air fuel mixture.....its the compressed air that heats up and then the diesel is injected which catches fire.....that's the reason why u cant have gas as the alternative fuel for diesel engines cause if u inject or spray gas into hot air it wont ignite

Petrol engines run on the basis of the mixture of petrol and air whereas the diesel engines work on the injection of diesel alone, air is then mixed separately in the cylinder.
The compression ratio of petrol engine is lower in comparison to diesel engine. Gas when mixed with air and injected inside the cylinder is compressed with a lower compression ratio as compared to diesel engine and a spark plug ignites it: whereas in diesel engine the diesel alone is sprayed and is compressed with a higher compression ratio, so high that it self ignites and then air is injected. So gas cannot be used in diesel engines because of because of higher compression ratio of diesel engines.

Not enough info for ?? to make sense. Each engine is designed for fuel used. Gas engines fire off due to electric spark. Diesel engines fire off due to compression. Diesel engines can utilize naturual gas in a certain proportion for extra power, generally short cycle.

gasoline is far more " explosive " and has less lubricating qualities than diesel , a diesel would be damaged with gasoline, gasoline engines are cheaper/lighter to build ,diesels typically give longer service life , whatever happens , don't mix fuels please.
