She's probably just gone bald just like some men go bald. It doesn't sound like you need to worry

What bedding are you using? Is it pine or cedar? Both of those are bad for rodents and can cause symptoms which might include watery eyes and hair loss. Normally the hair loss would be one the belly or feet, but he could be trying to scratch an irritaed eye and rubbing the hair off behind his ear. Nail clipping - not much fun for you or your pet - some "no clipping" alternatives to wear own your pets nails. They make a "nail trimming track" for the woodent wheel that's quite effective when you follow the instructions. You can NOT leave this track on at all times. Or the no cost method - go outside, find a nice rock, clean it up, place it so that your pet has to stand on this to drink from the water bottle. They'll slowly wear down their nails. Just make sure the rock is placed so it can't tip and squish your pet. Nice flat rocks like many folks use for reptiles work well.

No animal should have a bald patch. The first things I would worry about are malnutrition and mange (demodectic mange happens when the immune system is weakened somehow, so she could get it even though she lives alone). I don't know that much about hamsters though, but I'd suggest you buy a good book about how to care for one and see if there's something she needs and isn't getting.

I also have a hamster with similar situation like yours. It could be due to the hamsters changing its coat because of the season (hot or cold), especially if your hamster is dwarf hamster ( this also applies to other species of hamsters). Your hamster fur will come back after a few weeks later. Another possibilities could be your hamster have not been receiving enough nutrition, or it could be having some skin problems like infections. You could observe your hamster for a while and see how things goes. If it got worst or your hamster start to get weird symptoms, you can consult a veterinary to see what are some solutions to help your hamster.

If your hamster is doing anything out of the ordinary that worries you - coughing, wheezing, shaking, developing sores or callouses, walking weird, or any other abnormal behavior - SEE A VET IMMEDIATELY. When your hamster is awake, it should look alert, not apathetic. Anus should not be smeared with droppings. (This is a sign of possible diarrhoea.) Eyes should be clear, without signs of secretion. Heavy or noisy breathing may indicate disease. There should be no sores or bald spots.
I would reccomend seeing a vet.

Simply, its bored having little to do. Try letting it out occasionally and look at some toys and tunnels for it to explore. There is plenty of books for the caring of such animals and free leaflets at all major pet stores. A companion wouldn't go amiss.

maybe...my guinea pig has a bald patch on her back...we went to the vet and she sed it was due to an over-rich diet too much fruit and veg. it could also be due to a skin mite which you need to get cheked out straight away as my other guniea pigs ( i have 6) hav had to have cream just incase they catch it. also she could start loosing her fur as the mite progresses. plz get her sorted at a vets and she wont be in any pain as it does itch! hope this helps xx

Does she wear a beret? These are known for creating baldness if worn everyday... the fabric rubs on the hair and reduces the growth ability...
