the automobile because it revolutionized transportation and the face of society. people could travel to and from work, move from the city to the country,and move from the country to the city.
the automobile enabled family members to move away from the nuclear family. what was once a closely bound family and scoiety now became faily members spread all over a state or country, with members of society becoming more impersonal and aloof.
