Her doctor said use a warm wash cloth 3 times a day and massage the area with your pinkie. Just wondering if anyone had a method to make it clear faster. I feel bad when her little eye is all filled with ****.

my son had this when he was a baby. sometimes his eyes would be so caked with gunk when he woke up in the morning that the best thing to do would be put him in a warm bath and slowly and gently wipe his eyes with a warm washcloth. he eventually outgrew it. good luck to you

My daughter ( now 8 ) was born with that too. It used to give her infections. She was about 3 weeks away from needing the surgery to unblock them and then it just went away on its own!
there is not much more you can do , i know how awful it can be...we used a warm cloth and some Johnson's Head to Toe baby wash because the gunk used to irritate the outside of her eyes.

You're doing everything you can already. This is very common with newborns. Just keep the area clean with a warm wash cloth. I was just reading about this yesterday in the latest issue of American Baby. The same thing happened to our baby who is now 3 1/2 months old. She will outgrow it.

no, not really....(and it's no wonder that word was blocked...it can be an offensive word...remember the vietnam war? well, that's what some people called them...how about gunk or pus even, as that's what it is!)
My daughter had both ducts blocked at different times, therefore had very watery eyes because they are the drains. We had her to the doctor who gave is eye meds to help clear it up (didn't work), they sent us to an eye specialist who gave us drops (that didn't work either), but he told us that unless it should clear up on it's own by the time she was about 15 months as the duct itself becomes larger, therefore unclogging on it's own (at least I think t he told us 15 months...) therefore nothing would need to be done...If it HADN'T cleared up, her duct would need to be probed, which I wouldn't have looked forward to...but apparently that doesn't happen very often.

It should clear up on it's own in a few months...try not to worry!

The only tip I have is baby oil. Put some on the end of a q-tip and it will help get the gunk off easier and faster.

My son had the same thing and seemed like it lasted forever. I don't think there is much you can do to make it clear faster, it's such a sensitive area. Follow what the doctor says, he would know best!
