If they come over and legally obtain citizenship in our country then come on over. They obviously do want to be here.
When they come over and use other peoples social security numbers to obtain jobs to send the money back to Mexico. They don't even try to become legal then their is a problem. When they don't even learn our language they don't even try. They act like they have no idea what your saying and yet we should do everything to help them. They come take our jobs at a pay that is lower then dirt and then you put down Americans because we are not stupid enough to work for the pay they do.
Build a fence build a brick wall that goes all the way to heaven for all I care. Let the ones in who are willing to get into OUR country the right way.
Oh let me know how you feel after one of them start using your ss# and then the IRS comes after you for not reporting income you didn't even know you made. Good luck with that.

The building of a fence to keep Mexican immigrants out is an exceptionally poor idea. The Israeli wall is not an example that the US should be seeking to replicate. Besides, the US needs immigrant workers to staff its factories and do the jobs that US citizens won't. Last summer in California the annual strawberry crop rotted in the fields because the mass of Mexican immigrants who normally turn up were not forthcoming. This was due to harsher anti-immigration procedures introduced by the Republicans. The border between the US and Mexico is the biggest rich-poor divide on the planet and building a fence will only increase the intensity of the problem. What is needed is an end to US isolationism, a cessation of the ignorance that fuels the self-defeating anti-immigration attitudes of some sections of US society, and the introduction of intelligent and sensitive leadership in Washington and in the border states.

So, all Americans should pay money into Social Security (a tax, which is deducted from your paycheck, which leads me to believe that you do not work), EXCEPT for someone who illegally enters out country? It's a simple concept: Apply for a work visa, and/or citizenship, and PAY into Social Security, state taxes, local taxes, hospitalization, etc. Then you will be welcome here with open arms. However, if you want to sneak in, and the U.S. government doesn't know if you are a terrorist, or if you've just escaped from a Mexican prison, then don't even bother. Look at how illegals are draining the resources in California, where those bleeding-heart Liberals allow illegals to attend school, and get free medical.

We do not need immigrants to do jobs we do not want to do. We managed to get these jobs done in the past it is just cheaper to hire illegal immigrants to do some jobs.
Why can't the Mexicans fix their own country? Mexico has natural resources and is a tourist destination. Somehow in the minds of Mexicans it has become the United States responsibility to provide illegal immigrants with a simple solution to their problems. Give them jobs here that they do not pay taxes on their wages. Give them access to health care that is paid for by those of us that do pay taxes. I really doubt if the shoe was on the other foot you would give these things to me.
I talked to legal immigrants here and they are opposed to illegal immigration. They had to go Through the hassles of doing it legally and they feel that all immigrants should have to.
Maybe the riots in Oaxaca are a starting place for Mexico to start fixing itself. Until Mexico has a good economy like the US we can not afford to have an open border with them like we do with Canada.
I really believe the rest of the world is too busy with its own problems to worry about an immigration issue over here.

It is a fence of shame that we are building FOR Mexico. It should show that the Mexican government that it is doing a pitiful job of representing and caring about the citizens of Mexico. The politicians of Mexico should feel ashamed that they cannot do an ample job of providing opportunities to its citizens. The citizens of Mexico feel the need to run out of their own country. The illegal immigrants feel it is more important to risk their lives and to break laws than it is to stay and improve their own country. The illegals have given up hope on Mexico and the leaders of Mexico. The shame should be placed on Mexico. The praise should be on the USA and its leaders for creating a place that makes people want to leave their birth country to come here.

Legal immigrants are great! Illegal immigrants squeeze our economy, drain our tax dollars and rob our own people of jobs. The fence is a good start. It may not be a long term solution, because I think the illegals will find another way over here to the US. (Can't blame them really). Americans are not heartless people. However, we have worked very hard to make what we have here and we are not going to give it all away so easily to Mexicans, or anyone else. They can apply and come over legally like everyone else.

I think the fence should be Electric and then it will work. Or it should be heavily guarded. SO many people are here ILLEGALLY!!!! Everyone tries to ignore that. Especially Mexicans and Central Americans who are pouring into the USA. I myself am Latino and I have a problem of people coming over here getting free health care, Jobs, and not learning to assimilate and learn english. Oh yeah and being Illegal. Have the decency to go through the aper work like our grandparents had to. You got problems in Mexico, to bad. We got our problems over here to.

What they need to do is make that fence so electrified that if touched it would cook like a microwave. Then they should put land mines out and a bunch of rednecks with guns. Tell the rednecks that the immigrants are the ones that killed Dale Earnhart. That my friend would close the border.

I think that we should buid a fence around the complete border of the United States that would put 'The Wall of China' to shame. Immigrants should be extremely limited and should meet challenging requirements to gain citizenship. I also believe that certain criminals should be banished from this country. We could create the perfect society.

The whole thing is a crock. Its like the whole seperating East Berlin from West-it's all part of the same land and you're building a wall to seperate it from the people who originally lived here in the first place? The biggest crock of 'em all is that 'guest worker' program. You mean to tell me the same government that's spying on average law abiding American citizens daily can't find a way to keep unlawful immigrants out, except by limiting the lawful? Weird, sad, but true...I'm with the Mexicans on this one "Yo soy no criminales!"...or something like that...
