Going to Marrakech for a week and wondered if anyone knew for definite whether I'll get a better exchange rate (into Dirhams - only available once you're there) taking US dollars or UK pounds? Cheers! Carlos

There is no point in taking any currency other than Pounds Sterling (GBP) though if you happen to have some Euros they might be useful as a reserve. Traders often accept Euros (though not Pounds) but you'll have to be smart to haggle with the exchange rate of the day. Dollars were never mentioned by traders.
You will only be able to change your currency once you arrive using that day's exchange rate. Thereafter use ATMs if you need more.
ADVICE - make sure you have only the amount of Dirhams you estimate you need since changing it back is not always straightforward! I was caught out (and so were many others) by this problem because the exchange office was not open at the time I left the country. Theoretically you are not allowed to take Dirhams out of Morocco. Would you like to buy some Dirham?
You will have a wonderful time. Make sure you try the excellent orange juice. Always haggle for items - everyone enjoys the game; don't be put off by acted anger. Be generous to those who are genuinely helpful. Do not use unlicensed (no ID card & photo) 'guides'.
If you can't make yourself understood in English, try French.
Bon voyage!

Best Currency For Morocco

Use the ATMs, but if you want a backup (in case, for example, the airport ATM has run out of cash), then I would take Euros (if you have them) or simply your own currency (assuming it is convertible), as this will save in multiple exchange commissions.

Take Dirhams (the local currency). If you have a death wish, take dollars

Bring a bank debit card or a credit card and use the many ATM's to withdraw cash. Don't bother bringing cash.

it depends what you have available.
the one already in your pocket already is best.
The USD is going down at the moment, so its worth today may be more than its worth tommorow - something to consider if you are planning to change any excess back, after the holiday.

not sure about morocco, but in tunisia, GBP are more valued, and more widely accepted (!!) than the local currency

You can withdraw the local currency from any ATM using your link, switch or maestro card.

Check the latest exchange rates, but I think it is pretty much the same. Have fun.

With the dollar fluctuating so much recently, it's probably better to take £sterling.
