It's about time, and since she is a celebrity nothing is anonymous. We hear about everything whether we want to or not

She said she goes to AA meetings because she feels "safe" there but she's still drinking and partying. AA is a place to give up drinking. It's not a police station. She's violating the privacy of the people in the group that she's attending who really are there for help and might not come back because of her.

When you become famous, you give up some of your rights. One is the right of privacy. Obviously people can't come onto your property against your will as a celebrity, but they can, for example, find out information about you and publish it. I'm not sure if giving up your rights due to fame is a document you sign. If not, I don't know where they draw the line between famous and not famous. I just learned it in my civics class.

I think it's purely a publicity stunt to try to clean up her image. It's not as if she's practicing the principles. Her reps say she is "just checking it out". Puh-lease. That's not fair to the people that are truly trying to fight alcoholism.

It's public knowledge because her mother and public relations people are pushing this information to make her look better. Everything that you read states the information is coming from them.

Sad....just sad. I wonder if she'll live to see her 30's at the rate she's going....

Well, the news report I heard said that she had friends going as well, so one might think it is more of a social desicion than a serious one. Also she has received a lot of negative publicity regarding her 'partying'- turning up late for work and being a diva on set- maybe her publicist is trying to undo the damage.

I guess its not privacy when her mom goes on TV and tells everyone that she is going to a AA meetings. Yeah her mother told everyone!

She or someone she is friendly with had to have informed the press, as she seems to thrive on publicity, personally at her age I would be ashamed, but obviously she does not worry about what people think.

You do have a good point.I think that what is said in AA is what is private. She is a celebrity so it would make it very difficult to keep a secret for her and other celebs.

It's public knowledge because the gross little party who*e wants it that way. Anything for publicity. It's very sad, really....

yeah, it's not really fair. i like lindsay and i'm sure the last thing she needs is everyone knowing she's going to aa. i think it's good she's getting help, though. i'd hate for anything to happen to her.
