Lysosomes, themselves are protedtectes by a lipid (fatty) bilayer that is impermiable to their digestive enzymes. (mostly acid proteases). the orgnelle transfers digestive fluids and "food", to anastomosed vacuaoles that are resistant to the corrosive cocktail, from the lysosomes. Some of the digestion takes place in those vaculoes. The organelle (lysome does not issue its corrosive contents into the cell but only into memrane enclosed organelles or into the the environment.
