Ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date, and that it can detect adware, spyware and trojans.

Sounds like you have what is called a browser hi-jacker working on your PC. That is a program which takes control of your homepage and refuses to allow you to reset it. Trying to force you to buy their software, which will clear the homepage for you.
Kevin posted some manual instructions for clearing the hi-jacker that are fairly simple. Follow them to clear it from your PC.
Then I suggest you go to microsoft.com and download their "Defender" program. It will guard against hi-jacks and othe spyware attacks in the future.
