Why do people alsways start throwing with the Bible when it comes to questions regarding ethics and values? Like religious people (Christians) are the only good people on this planet? Like Christianity ( or what ever religion) is the answer to all evil?

Ethics and values are something you are brought up with , or not. regardless of your religion. I can name you a zillion examples of religious people who do not have ethics or values, at least not the values that I live according to. Priests who lay their hands on little boys for instance, presidents who preemtively invade a country while that is against international law, presidents who lock up people for years in a row without giving them a legal process, etc etc.

I am not religious but I consider myself a good person: I don't kill, don't do drugs, help people out where I can, give to charities, I respect others, I hate violence, I protest for women's rights, etc. Of course, I have my flaws but who hasn't?

Only meaning to clear up the discussion a little:

Morals and values are things we believe about right and wrong.

Ethics are rules about what is right and wrong. The law is a set of ethics. The Bible is a set of ethics. A doctor's oath to do no harm and to keep client info confidential is ethics.

Generally, ethics are things you can go and look up about what will get you in trouble. Morals are the things we are trying to reflect in ethics.

We use the words moral, value and ethics as if they were nouns...they arent nouns...they are a frame of mind only. You were not born with something called morals or values or ethics....you learn them through your life....from your parents, from your friends, from your teachers....we are learning new things every day....A child when they are born dont know anything about morals, values and ethics. All these things will differ from person to person....Is it moral to cheat on your husband?..the standard answer is...no its immoral. What if I asked you is it ethical for a wife to cheat on her husband if she is being beaten black and blue every day of her life...I dont think you would get many answers saying she is immoral or lacks values. Hitler thought he was a moral man, he had a lot of followers who thought he was too. He also had a lot of people who thought he was a crazy man. He wanted the perfect race...the blonde hair blue eyed child...and for that to happen he had to perform lots of experiments. Hell, he was as immoral as they come, but he didnt think so. So really, there is no real answer to your question because, depending on the situation and your upbringing will determine your morals, values and ethics. If your father was a mass murderer and your mother a prostitue...what kind of morals do you think you would have then. A woman who prostitues herself for drugs is an immoral woman. A woman who prostitues herself so as she can feed her two starving kids at home is a very moral woman indeed...the action of prostitution is the same but the reasons are totally different....and that is where lies the difference.

Ethics is something in basic terms you could prepare its no longer something which could be enforced. And by employing being vertuous you could finally provide up being the style of nice radiator of detrimental thoughts ... as many all and sundry is... Which by employing the way has a snowball consequence...... i think of there is a few relevance in putting rules as those are a like a trademark of what the usual guy or woman expects and understanding those issues facilitates one get on in existence.... certainly.... yet somewhat basic experience (too lots for many) is regularly greater valuable than a no longer difficulty-free and speedy rule.

Unless you have a standard to use as the foundation, the range of values is wider than the ocean. If the Bible is understood in the way it was meant it is the standard for living. There are examples of how to live and how not to live and what the results of either choice will be.
