Actually, a kite is a bird much like a hawk. I would say the odd one out is the vulture.
A vulture will eat dead carion whereas the other birds will only eat live prey.

P.S. Now you have me thinking. I did some checking, and it seems the black kite is also a scavenger and will eat carion.
There goes that theory.
Tony B--I guess great minds think alike, even when wrong.

My final answer is shayan for the Hindi speakers which is hawk for the English speakers.
Shayan is the only Hindi word without a double letter pair.
Hawk is the only English word that does not end in "e".
Whether you call it shayan or hawk, it is the odd one.

This is actually a deeper question than you would think. Since all four of these are types of birds than I would break it down into how each type of bird obtains food. Kites, eagles, and hawks are all first and foremost birds of prey, which means they typically hunt down and kill their own food. Vultures are primarily scavengers which means they are opportunistic animals eating mostly carrion that they would find. Many birds of prey, however, have been known to also be opportunistic eaters, a phenomena I have personally witnessed but that being said I would still say that the vulture is the odd word. Hope that helped

Ther IS a bird called the Kite, which makes this question interesting. My guess is that VULTURE is the odd one out because it is a SCAVENGER. Kites, Eagles, and Hawks are predators.

vulture...cuz it doesn't catch live prey. kite hawks do, eagles do and other hawks do. or, it could be kite in this instance because it's a "toy" listed among birds...most ppl don't know there's a hawk called a kite hawk. so now i've really got you confused....sorry. ;o[

Odd word? many angles to it.

1. "eagle" can be considered the odd word because it is the only word that starts with a vowel , while the rest all starts with a consonant.

2. "hawk" can also be considered as the odd word because all of the words end with the letter "e", while only "hawk" ends with the letter "k".

3. "vulture" could also be considered as the odd word because only a "vulture" would eat human flesh, while the rest do not.

So take your pick.

Kite because you fly it with a string attached. The others are birds that you shouldn't tie things to.
