Yeah, 2007 would be nice.
I assume you're talking used.....
Chevy's feature list - and more importantly reliability - has steadily improved over the last 20 years. Having said that, get the newest, lowest-mileage vehicle you can afford.
The previous bodystyle (1999-2006) I think is a good bet in a used vehicle, and a step up from the previous (1988-1998) trucks. I have owned both of these generations and had pretty good luck.
However, I think it should be said that the transmissions in the 80's trucks were crap. (Note I love Chevy but everybody knows of 700-R4 woes). You find me a 4WD truck from the 80's with the original troublesome 700-R4 in it (working) and I'll be surprised. As these transmissions failed, they continued to make changes and improvements and I believe the last ones they called "700-R4" had been refined and less trouble. Mine wasn't one of those. Once again, the latest model you can afford would help to ameliorate this potential pitfall.
Can someone tell me what year they changed to the 4L60E and what is different about it (other than the name) over the 700-R4?

chevy is the best i dont know what u are talking about. Mt 98 chevy suburban has 194,000 miles on it and the tranny fluid has never been changed and i've ran the engine almost 3 quarts low with out a oil change for about 12,000 miles and it still runs great no problems and only 1 minor recall that i got fixed. and a for a say 2004 ford tritin around 160,000 will be 1 oil burner even if you change all the fluids at the right time. And dodge i don't even want to start lets just say Hemi used to be rare and good and now it's on everything it's stupid and they are really big gas guzzelrs. everything except GM is SCRAP IRON

1967 had no recalls whatsoever and no matter what went wrong it was not the computer, but finding 8-tracks to play in the stereo is getting kind of tough .
