For years, we’ve assumed that capitalism and democracy fit hand in glove. Is China making us think differently about his relationship?

no look at the Chinese they are not democratic the biggest problem any system faces with capitalism and the Chinese are beginning to find this out is corruption and the US is really having problems with this right now remember what Heinrick Hein once said " a monarch should always have his neck in a noose it keeps him upright "

I am a layman when it comes to China, but according to the good folks at Foreign Policy magazine, Chinese economic success is in spite, not a result of its political system. China's government is not transparent, a relative requirement for what we call Democracies. The resulting bribes weigh heavily on the Chinese economy.
We will see, if India outperforms China as most people seem to think, if Democracy is a prerequisite for true capitalism.

Democracy is incompatible with capitalism. Democracy is majority/mob-rule. You need a foundation of objective rule of law that supports individual rights; a constitutional republic. We once had that.

You can see that the rug's being pulled out from under capitalism in the US at every turn; it's become an ugly word to many intellectuals.
