This sounds like she needs to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors have been indicated to be the best option for spinal problems such as your daughters back and body pain. She probably has subluxation in her spine that can cause inflammation around the nerves coming out of her spine and this can then cause a number of problems within the body where these nerves innervate. Chiropractic is a totally safe and very effective alternative medicine. They look to correct the cause of the problem not just cover it up with a medication that will ultimately do more harm than good. I would also have her take a fish oil supplement and look at her diet.

Supplements – fish oil, ginger/ turmeric, glucosamine, MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane)
Dietary recommendations – fish, green vegetables, fruit, grass fed meat, olive oil, white potatoes, omega-3 eggs, remove all grains and sugars

I also suggest looking at the following sites for more information!
http://www.icpa4kids.org/research/chiropractic/neckpain.htm
http://www.mercola.com/

Being that this has been around for a long time and has obviously had a negative effect on her life, I strongly suggest that she see a chiropractor immediately.
I hope this helps and I will pray for your daughter!

A non-medical approach, meaning not western medicine would be chiropractic or acupuncture. Her muscles are weak from not excercising them and probably because she "holds" stress in the lower back. Pills are not the answer. A chiropractor would probably help her best with her posture and taking stress off of her lower back.

I'm curious if you guys tried a combo of chiropractic and massage?

If the doctors you were going to were Medical doctors, I have to assume their treatment consisted of pain relievers and muscle relaxers which are only temporary "band-aids"

A specialist like a chiropractor can help correct the underlying problem.

The obvious answers as I am sure you know shoes, posture, bed/mattress, physical alignment etc etc..Have you thought about mental stress or body stress..This can bring on low back pain. which I think is called lower back syndrome..it comes and goes..can last up to several weeks to a point one can hardly walk. sometimes it is constant nagging pain that doesn't seem to go away..Should this be the case. You might want to consult a mental health professional..also you might think about acupuncture..Good Luck

Talk to your daughter about her social activities with boys. I'm trying to be polite about this. No physical activities? She may not have time for them. I realize that this may be a glib answer, but its worth finding out what she has been up to for the past few years.

I am not an expert in this area but from personal experience and research, I know that Yoga is supposed to help your back and make it stronger. Please check this articles. You can find hundreds of articles on the benefits of Yoga for the back. You can get her tapes and she will be able to do some at home or go to classes with her to encourage her. Hope she will feel better.

I would also suggest seeing a chiropractor. They can help to get her spine in alignment as well as suggest specific stretches to do for the areas she needs work on and to work on her core muscles. My chiropractor has helped me tremendously and my back is soooo much better! The chiropractor can also teach proper posture and suggest proper sleeping positions, sitting, etc. I would also suggest to get her moving, exercise is very beneficial. Proper diet will also help. I hope you find something that works for her.

Acupuncture and herbs could help her over time. I would estimate within a couple of months of weekly acupuncture she would see drastic improvement.

go to acufinder.com and find an acupuncturist/herbalist in your area. She can also try applying heat to her back NEVER COLD and see if that helps her.

If she was my patient I would feel confident to treat her but you should really find someone in your area it is definitely curable.
Good luck.

I think that your best solution is for her to start taking yoga classes or just do yoga home from DVD. It has worked very much for my back problems and I haven't been ever physically active. Yoga is , by me, the best solution for ppl that haven't been sport active. But remember take it easy and very slowly.
