If you mean does it stop reproducing the answer would then be yes. Otherwise, the DNA eventually breaks down due to enzymes in the body that cause it to rot. The DNA can be stored in cryogenic containers, however, for extremely long times.

when a person dies, the dna remains in the body cells and bone. that's why a body can be exhumed after being buried for many years, and dna tests can be performed...sometimes the dna in the roots of the teeth is a more viable source to use posthumously. or so i'm told....

Some hundred or more year old bodies have been tested so no DNA is there for the long haul
