The official throwing distance, is 2.37 meters, as measured along the floor, from the plane of the face of the dartboard. In feet, this is 7 feet, 9-1/4 inches.
The height of the board, to the center of the bull, is 173 centimeters, or 5 feet, 8 inches. This (on short folk) would be about "eye height".

You have asked a very relative question because you are asking how high should YOUR dartboard be on the wall. Now therefore I will answer your question for YOU.
THE YOU may be an extra-ordinarily tall with a height of 8 feet or more.
THE YOU may be a tall person with a height of 6 to 7feet or of an average height of around 5ft 7 or 8 inches.
THE YOU could be on the shorter side 5ft or less
THE YOU maybe a midget barely 2 to 3 ft high.
Now if YOU fall in the last 2 groups above you certainly can not apply the standard rule for the dartboard to be 5ft 8inches or the minimum distance of 7ft 91/4 inches from the toe line due to the reach of your hand being below the average.
Maybe what want is the International rule for dartboards in which case you have the right answers from so many of the other answerer's.

The offical dart rules state that the dartboard should be mounted 5 ' 8" inches from the floor to the center (bulls eye) of the dart board.
