The person who said it was proved a hoax, is sadly mistaken. They didn't prove anything except that they didn't care to investigate it thoroughly.
He is probably refering to the events surrounding the death of Ray Wallace who is well known in the bigfoot community for faking things. Ray Wallace was introduced to bigfoot when he contracted to build a road above Bluff Creek. His crew, (Jerry Crew was a member) was building the road but found giant footprints from some visiter in the night. Some thought someone was trying to scare them. The footprints were 17 inches long and revealed that it walked around and picked up heavy drums and threw them of the road. A very heavy roll cable was carried up a hill and left a mile away. There were many things like this. Jerry Crew visited a taxidermist he knew named Titmus. Titmus gave him plaster and showed him how to cast. Crew did so and brought the cast to Eureka. The photos of Jerry Crew holding the casts became famous and spawned the name Bigfoot.
Ray Wallace took a fascination in Bigfoot ever since that incidence. He began fabricating fake feet and even made fake suits that he had his wife wear. These fake footprints were occassionally found and were generally realized as fakes. The fake wooden feet that he made and his movies were very amatuerish and would not fool experts. Since it made a good story, journalist implied that Ray Wallace was behind all the bigfoot footprints and films. In fact he was not. His family may try to sell that idea, either for fame or fortune or simple ignorance.
Bigfoot has not been proved a hoax except to those who refused to look at the evidence in the first place.

Oh, it's real man!! My Dad and I spotted the Sookesquatch in our backyard when I was 17. It was digging up the vegeatble garden. We just let it alone, and it went on it's way after about 30 minutes. It reeked! Must have been 7 feet tall and about 650lbs. We even got a casting of its footprint.
Other people in the area saw it too. Hasn't been a reported sighting for about 10 years now, but the rain forest here goes for hundreds of miles. So eventually someone else is bound to spot it.

Both names equal the same creatures. And yes bigfoot is a real enity. And I don't give a rats butt as to believes it or not. For I and a group of people ran into one and it was a very frightening event And when they say that bigfoot is tall it is and when they said they stink they do.. I know that many people will never be adventerous enough to look for one. I say more power to them. I also know that many people make up their minds by watching a t.v. show. But I am here to tell you that bigfoot is real. I know there are people out there trying to fool the world by dressing up as one and taking phoney pictures. But the fact still remains that yes they do exist...................

When I lived at the mountain there was once a foul hurricane and the one avenue plowed in or out of in which I lived was once some distance round and really detrimental because it was once utilized by log vans going hell bent for leather-based. I began up the move and there have been three lifeless gorey elk mendacity beside the avenue, as I climbed better I regarded over at the best of a snow included ridge that had no entry roads and I noticed whatever status there with hands elevated out and kind of swaying. I would no longer quit at that factor -- went up a little extra and subsidized up -- it was once long gone. No inspiration what it was once however it was once spooky! ;zero)

Actually, giants were real!- Genesis 6:4
If bigfoots and sasquatches were giants, then that means they probably must be real. Read the bible. You'll learn a lot of great stories and lessons there. http://www.angdatingdaan.org
