that something has to be done about direct payments, because there seems to be a set of different rules being adhered to nationwide.

In addition to this i am aware that my own local authority (Essex) are relunctant concerning In Control, perhaps this is different as to were you are placed.

What i would like to know is this the case on a nationwide scale?
What can be done to overcome this ignorance concerning direct payment and IB?

OK - I'm thinking about it... now what ?
To me it is clear - you set up a direct debit to pay a bill by an authority - you get advised how much by the authority - and they take it out your bank account... Simple? It is the same across the UK.
In terms of the ignorance - I agree that senior schools should do more to teach life skills generally an this area may be one of these skills which could improve.
In the old days, young people would discuss such things with their parents and their parents would teach them ... maybe we need a computer game called life skills - maybe then young people would be more aware.

I'm sorry but I'm an Accountant and I can't understand exactly what you are asking. Do you mean that they are paying you or is it the other way round. Most direct payments are made simply and easily into the recipients bank account - can't see that there is a problem. What do you mean "Essex are reluctant concerning in Control"? I'm sure there is a good question in here somewhere I just wish I know what it was!

Sorry, Mate, but I'm thicker than two short planks this morning. Could you possibly re-state that as a question that might be understandable by someone who isn't a Rhodes Scholar?

Well I have to confess to complete ignorance as I have no idea what you are talking about.

Perhaps you could make your question a little more transparent for us thickies out here?
