Can anybody suggest celebrities/bands/people that have contributed to society? Like, if they support a certain program or donated to something...HELP!

Bruce Springsteen has worked for Rock the Vote, in order to get young people to vote. Denis Leary donated a fire boat to the city of Boston, his hometown.

Probably the first individual who comes to mind is Bono, from U2. In addition to having been a rock star most of his life, he spends a great deal of time contributing to society. He currently has a program designed to sell "Red" shirts and such through the Gap I believe, where large amounts of profits go to prevent AIDS in Africa and towards solving problems of poverty. He also seems like a pretty genuinely decent guy who mostly wants the world to stop hating itself so much.
