Say, the government prosecutor accuses you of doing something you didn't. Say it's a serious crime like assault with a weapon or murder. Somehow a witness or the victim says they saw you. Out of a line up. They're sure it was you. next thing you know. You're infront of a jury for murder. You know you didn't do it. The prosecutor ofcourse coudn't care less what happens to you or if you're really guilty or not. He or she wants a paycheck to pay for his dinners with collegues and his car, bills etc. If the prosecutor is wrong. Shouldn't he be locked up for the same amount of time you would have to serve. If you were found guilty of the crime ?

Kjas you wrote;" Prosecutors usually have a good faith belief that you are guilty before they file charges against you. Remember, their job is to get a conviction. If they don't believe there is enough evidence against you to get one, then they don't usually bother. " Your last sentence is simply not true. You revealed their cold motive in your second sentence. It's just about the job and the money and that's it for them. What Im saying is;They should be so sure of their accusations. That, they'd risk their own freedom. That's pure justice.

No, they are doing their job. A defense attorney is responsible for defending your case. If you are innocent and can provide evidence, and hopefully aren't a minority (sadly), justice will usually prevail.
If you are wrongly accused or imprisoned, you can sue. But you sue the government.
If the prosecuter "frames" you with false evidence, then they face high criminal charges.
A Prosecuters job is to see that you are convicted and punished to the full of the law.
If you don't like that system run for congress and change it!

The prosecutors don't get paid the big bucks, the defense attorneys do. The prosecutor gets paid the same regardless of who's case they are working on, and there are plenty of criminals around to keep them busy for a very long time.
Prosecutors usually have a good faith belief that you are guilty before they file charges against you. Remember, their job is to get a conviction. If they don't believe there is enough evidence against you to get one, then they don't usually bother. If they have an eye witness who picks you out of a line up, well, the blame can't be put on the prosecutor. Someone else is blaming you, ie. the eye witness.

No that's not the way the law works. If That's how it happened then you need to arrest everyone that falsely accused you including the Jury of 12 people. Your own defense attorney for not making your case strong enough. The judge sitting on the case and of course the cops that investigated the case and got all the evidence against you.
Who will be working on the rest of the criminal cases? Nobody would want to do it so you would have a lawless state and crime would be more rampant then it is at this time.
It really rots for those innocent people who are in jail. On a positive note with the break through in science you are seeing some innocent people getting out of jail.
The best thing they can do is sue to make money after get out of jail.

If we did that, there would be no prosecutors, and crime would be rampant. Our system relies on checks and balances. Prosecutors should only be locked up if they knew you were innocent AND manufactured evidence to make you look guilty. Otherwise, they're doing their jobs, and, yes, sometimes people make mistakes.

not really sure how to answer that one, because you have Public Defenders, and Law Firm Defenders, who defend people they KNOW are guilty, but because hired, and that is what they do, Defend, they are going to try to win the case, unless they have a moral concience...(recently )There is this man who was locked up for something he was accused of, spent over 15 yrs. in jail, he was finally proven innocent due to new DNA evidence, unfortunately, he didn't live to see that, he killed himself in jail, just weeks prior to the new evidence being released.....It USED to be about Law, now its the $$$, just like Doctors.....unfortunate....
