"i have a compaq laptop , but i have problem in reading cd's , does anyone knw the software which can read or play anytype of cd's (scratched that type ) , so please help me out

Download K-Lite media codec and player. Search in google for the link. If however the hardware (lens) has become faulty, better buy a new combo drive for laptop.
