Urban street art, when it is art, can be beautiful and thought provoking. Tagging is an obnoxious cry for attention. If you mean the ecological environment, then no, CFCs from spray cans (in countries where CFCs are still legal) deplete the ozone layer.

Since Graffiti are mostly unwanted destroy of others property, so it is illegal even if the victim likes it.
The Begin of graffiti is from the irresponsible people or people that destroy their life like nonsense. so it is not seen as a good style of art. Unlike oil paintings that has an noble history.
Graffiti is a destroy of others art/work so it is a rude thing to do.
BUT
As Art turns modern, It must be accepted.
And it must improve the environment like painting does.
Personally, I like Graffiti very Much, and i DO think it can improve the environment. As we can see in many shops they now use Graffiti for decoration and also to create the mood.

Hi, my name is philip.
I just moved from europe and now I live in michigan...
I grew up with graffiti, heres the thing I started art when I was about 4 and by the age of 10 I started sketching and by the age of 12 I started graffiti.

WELL, it depends if your doing it legally or illegally ... I think if all writers ( graffiti artists ) get together and start sprayig things about the environment it would help people see and act about pollution because graffiti is everywhere... !

And NO!!! spray cans do not contain any CFC's anymore ( chloro fluoro carbons ) so it doesnt affect greenhouse effect...

I personally am planning to do things with my artwork and start stirring up some good things ( legally ) to make people react about multiple things in the world ( problems)

Thanks, youre welcome

How many of these graffiti cretins do there own and there neighbours walls, they are simply vandals, the onlly ones i have any sympathy with are those that come out in the open ,let everyone know who they are ,and then get permission to portray there art in an enviroment that does not offend the majority, i.e,on a canvas within a frame maybe, like most artists.

I think you mean can it improve the esthetics of a neighborhood. Certainly it cannot improve air or water quality, but it can do a lot to improve the looks of a vacant builidng, abandoned automobile and some bridges. But graffiti can be an eyesore and a nusiance, so each case must be judged.

I agree with lataliano. What the hell is clever or artistic about defacing a brand new building? A neighbour of mine spent 3 weeks painting his perimeter wall only for it to be graffited the day after he had finished. Funny huh?
It's pollution, whichever way you try and dress it up and the people who do it are sick. It's fine as long it is'nt on your house.
Cities and towns are being visually ruined by graffiti sickos.
Lock em up!!

yeah i think that if it is not like gangs spraypainting names and symbols on the wall then it could. graffiti is art and it would take someone talented to do it just as any art does and i think it would make an improvement..

everyones always complaining about having boring grey buildings and no colours or wildlife so why dont we make the buildings better by adding colours and pictures XD

If it's a truly beautiful piece of art on a random wall, yeah of course it can. It heightens the street vibe and improves the grey Urban jungle that is city life. On the other hand, if it's your house or the nice new leisure centre that your local authority have put time and money into, or if there are obscenities and insults, it stops becomming so pretty.

for me, no. . .if it is done without the property owner's consent, graffiti is a form of vandalism and is punishable by law in some countries, and if it is used illegally. . .because it wouldn't be nice to look at. . . it destroys the image of environment. . . and it brings strong smell that could be hazardous on ones health. . .
