Hey pumpkin..... Well, that's a pleasent, issue-based [non personal] response. Ok, here's the first that comes to mind, and you know you can't refute this- women take millions of men's children, per year, and men have no rights. Viola.

Renate, you do know that men didn't have the vote either, don't you? or doesn't feminist propoganda go that far?

Frankly it doesn't matter what the status of women were in the past, for as long as I've been alive women have been the privilidged class in developed society. They always play the victim card and get preferential treatment in family court and domestic violence situations (even if they were the one beating their husband). Men are starting to fight back, the marriage strike for one. Women have all the control over reproductive rights, with the man's responsibility resting solely on the womans decision to have it or not. I can see in the not too distant future men fighting back against this injustice because it has gotten to a boiling point.

White males historically had more rights than any other race or gender, at least in the United States and European countries. And yes, women only gained the right to vote in 1920. Prior to that, the democratic right of representation was only granted to men (and primarily white men). However, it should be noted said rights did not exist for thousands or millions of years, since democracy only reared in the middle 1700s.
On the issue of children, men also held that "right" for a considerable time. From as early as the first century, into the late 1800s when a divorce did occur (exceedingly rare, but there were occurances), it was dictated (often without a court date) that children belonged with the father. In the passed century or so, women indeed have been extended greater custodial rights then men, however that trend is slowly reversing as courts adapt "mutual parenting" arrangements. Furthermore, it hasn't helped that deadbeat dads that took off created a sort of stigma for the rest of us.
In a sense you are right... rights are as of yet unequal. While women do enjoy greater security in custody issues, men enjoy greater business prospects (salary, benefits, loans for businesses, acceptance and positions). Hopefully we can eventually come to a gender-neutral society (I realize I'm probably dreaming) where courts don't determine who gets the kids based on their genitalia, anymore than banks determine who gets the loans for their anatomy.

Are you speaking of men afraid of being accused of harassment in the work place? I can't see any other possible reason you'd feel this way.
I work hard and sometimes am on construction sites doing my job. We are far from equal to men here. I must work harder and remain super-humanly tolerant. I could have sued at least 20 companies, but have not because I believe in change through example.
There are women who abuse the laws, but far more are protected. These laws apply to men, as well.

Women did not get the vote until 1920 - that is only about 86 years ago. Thousands and millions of years; women could not vote.
Women are only beginning to get semi-equal pay and yet the majority of women are now raising families alone.

Obviously you are just looking for some attention, but just to set the record straight the equality of rights between men and women if very differentiated. I would like to have you prove otherwise.

Men won't ever demand the kind of "equal rights" some women do these days...those kind of "equal rights" are actually superior rights, as the original question notes. Men will eventually just look someplace else where the girls aren't so rediculous.

Your question raises my eyebrow for one reason.....women and men have never held equal rights over anything, look back at your history books, tell me where a woman has been of equal right to a man, yet still not suffered some kind of injustice due to his inability to be able to accept womans need for independance and basic rights.......there isnt one.
It seems to me that if anyone has problems with the opposite sex, its you.......

men have never had less than superior rights over women. women have fought long and hard to be considered equal to men. i am sure ur a man considering no woman would declare that they have ever had way above equal rights over any man in society. women still struggle everyday, whether it is in the work place or elsewhere to be considered and equal counterpart...women have also fallen victim to men and their ever so prominant struggle for power....then again ur a man...so a woman having any place other than what you see as right in society would be seen as "way above equal rights" - excuse me while i go wash my husbands feet, tend to the household chores and cook dinner

As long as this is a "male dominant" society, women will always "get thier way" with men!
Judges are so linient towards women that its sickening! (yes, I know of cases personally where a female drug addict gets the children, and then, the child died because of it... a tragedy for sure!)...
Butl, as long as the woman is "put down" in a lower pay scale and is "supposed" to be inferior to man, they will always get the advantage of child rearing and alimony...
I wish you well..

LOL. Well, I wouldn't say that women have always had equal rights, and I wouldn't say that they have more rights. I will agree that it is wrong that it is ok to be a feminist, but wrong to be a masculinist. Frankly, shouldn't we all just be Equalists?
