A friend stood me up for the 4th time after promising he'd show up, I snapped that he didn't care about me....
I know that he has depression; but even though he sometimes stops contact with me for months I still feel bad about what I said. I'd feel guilty about not apologizing to him for being so dramatic and suggesting he's insensitive, but it WAS insensitive. Should I keep being friends with him, or would telling him I'm sorry make me a doormat?

Or should I JUST apologize, but then say, "I'm sorry, but I need to stop making plans with you since you keep breaking your promises?"

I also have a slight crush on the guy, but I know that I don't deserve this kind of treatment. :(

I think apologizing for your reaction and then telling him that you need to stop making plans with him because he continually disappoints you, is the best plan.....forget having a crush because he will crush you....good luck

Well I have the feeling that, he is having a tough time in his lifetime and therefore, it stops him from being able to keep up with you, when he is busy dealing with some of his inner emotional problems. I would be directly honest, and confront the person, by telling him that, you would like find a time with him, and that it is important that he is with you.

I would emphasis, on how you want to be with him, I mean honestly, if he still turns you down, you have found out much needed information, that you might need to look elsewhere you know. But being honest, would not make you a doormat, it would make you stronger and more informed.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
David Stewart

You should put your cards on the table, and say I can't do this anymore because you stood me up 4x. Forget about your crush on him because if the 2 of you get together what happens if you make plans with him, and he doesn't should up. Cut your lost and run from him. Meaning stop making plans with him. If he really need you he will call you, and make plans with you. Just be an ear to him to listen to his problem. You know that you can't solve his problem. Only he can solve his problem, and get over his depression. Just be there to support him any how you know.
