I keep fancy goldfish, and I've noticed some distasteful behaviour from my Ryukin. He bullies my Ranchu. He swims in to her, pushes her in to the plants, and generally bulldozes her round the tank. It only happens after I've fed them, so I believe he feels the need to 'compete' for food. However, he really is quite violent about it, and I'm worried about injury to my other fish. Is there anything I can do to discourage this behaviour?

I don't think it's breeding or territorial. Like I said, I think it's related to food. The fish have enough space and are otherwise very healthy. By the way, she's a Ranchu, not a Black Moor ^^

If you've already kept plants and your victimised goldfish continues to be bullied and gets injured, the only way out is to isolate the two goldfishes...keep them in separate fish tanks.

first, how big is the tank. fancy goldies need around 10 gallons each to stay healthy and if they feel overcrowded they will try to get some territory and if it means harrassing or fighting then they will pick on the weakest fish.

if theres no damage to the other fish and the fish are nudging the black moor from behind or the side then this will be mating behaviour and is quite common.

goldfish will quite happily breed with different types but i think they are too small yet to actually breed, so these are young males trying their luck and doesnt mean the blackmoor they are chasing is a female.

a suggestion would be to rearrange the tank completely so the dominant fish have no territory.

if there isnt enough room for all of them then either getting a bigger tank or another one for the blackmoor may be your only alternative to resolving this.

hope some of this helps

He wont supply up. I had those fish as quickly as, they in no way supply up. the two one has to die, or you preserve the divider. What you would be able to desire to do is chop up all your fish into 2 diverse smaller tanks, fairly of your tank and between the mollys in one bowl.
