Dear fellow arabs, do you think yahoo is supposed to make an arabic yahoo answers?
they already made customized y!answers for many countries like italy, china, singapore..etc, they even made a UK yahoo and they speak ENGLISH for cryin out loud.
we (arabs) have this advantage of speaking the same language, i mean many countries with one language (arabic) so why arabic isnt included in international y!answers? and we can write in both arabic or english then, or use arabic in english letter like we always wanna do, when we're talking about common sayings in the arab world.
many of us get reported for using an arabic word here, its unfair.
whats ur opinion, are u with it or against it and why?
and if ur supporting this, how can we make it happen?
with all do respect for all non-arab countries, no offence.

I think it would be a good idea to have it in arabic and other languages too, because it can't be expected from all the people who have internet and want to use a community like this to speak and understand english well enough to use it.ENGLISH IS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR MOST PEOPLE.
And those who can speak english and want the diversity they would still have the english sites.

specific, I surely think of there could be an Arabic Yahoo solutions. I agree that there are some for languages that are no longer as everyday or as spoken or Arabic. in spite of everything, it relatively is the 6th language of the worldwide, relatively spoken international, and an respectable language of the UN. i actually do no longer comprehend why they gained't evaluate it. Wow! reported for an arab word!! OMG! it relatively is unquestionably one of those stereotype! What do they think of we are conversing approximately? Terrorist events? i'm completely with it. i do no longer comprehend how we are able to make it happen. it relatively is kinda troublesome to cajole or maybe touch the group. Inshallah they're going to do it sooner or later. consistent with danger while Arabs get stable PR international and people quit thinking that we are terrorists. needless to say, no offence to all people. Take care. Salam.

While it sounds convincing to Arabic speaking communities. I think the power of Yahoo Answers is the diversity of the answers you get from different people of different backgrounds and nationalities.
In an Arabic or any other language specific Yahoo Answers version, you gain convenience but lose diversity and knowledge.

I think it's a good idea, and I personally thought about i when I found all the Yahoo! Clevers for other countries.
BUT, knowing us, Arabs, I think that the website will be very successful at first, meaning we'll all log in there and ask/answer in our new website, but for some reason, we'll all come back here again. I really don't know why, but that's how I think it will happen.

May I ask what is the purpose of having Y!A in any particular language? Isn’t the greatest thing about internet an opportunity to talk to people from all over the world? If we all decided to stick to sites in our native languages, we would be limited only to our own community. I personally think that the most important thing is to talk to all the people, no matter of their nationality, race or religion. To talk to all the people with no limits.
But if we want to communicate with people from the whole world, we need some kind of a universal or international language. I suppose everyone would prefer his or her native language to be that (if nothing else, then because he or she is most fluent with it), but it happens to be English. Now we can accept that or we can refuse it and stick to our native languages. But in that case we won't be able to communicate with people from other cultures and I think this is much more important than what language we use. As long as we (are willing to) understand each other.
Don't get me wrong, English is not my mother tongue and I am not the "lucky" one that already has her mother tongue on Y!A. But I am not even interested in that, as I prefer to be able to talk to people from all over the world, not only from my own community.
Anyway, I am not against this idea (who am I to be?), I just want to point out positive effects of participating at international sites like this one.
And as I already know what objections there will be, I will add a few more things…
First of all, I know that people who have Y!A in their particular language drop by to the international Y!A. Occasionally. So, yes, we could still communicate to each other, but I believe that would be in a much less extent, as there will be a much less amount of international communication.
The other thing, I know that there are people who don't speak English. But it is even more important for them to participate at international sites because that will make them learn English. And they will surely benefit from that, not because it is English, of course, but because it is some kind of an international language nowadays.
Finally, what people mention here about being reported for using Arabic... People get reported for using any other language than English, not only Arabic. And people don't report them for using Arabic particularly, but because they cannot understand what those people are saying. For example, you keep reading a question and then an answer, even pretty long, and at the end of it there is a sentence or two in a foreign language that you don’t understand and you miss the point! In such occasions I also wish to report the person that answers like that, but I feel sorry to do that. But not everybody has mercy. So, don't take everything personally. People get reported and even suspended for using other languages, not just Arabic. I know some cases of this kind.
Let me repeat once again, I believe the most important thing here is not the language, but the opportunity to talk to all the people, no matter of their race, nationality or religion. For this reason, I just believe it would be better for all of us to stick to the same place.

Well they should.
So people who speak Arabic can ask and answer in Arabic and still understand each other.

I'm Jewish and I support your claim!
I think they should allow you an Arabic
site if they did it for other countries.
You are absolutly right!
