Pretentious and really try hard to do all the necessary things to be considered sophisticated because they need to be looked upon as sophisticated for their ego (yadayadayada),or its a natural thing for them and they just "are" that way because its their personality.

Most people I know as sophisticated fall under the pretentious category

i find sophistication to be a bore. usually it goes hand in hand with a lack of common sense or an understanding of the simple basic things in life. those who are truly sophisticated don't try to be, they just are. if you're trying for sophistication you've already fallen into pretension.

Sophistication is an act.
When your pants are down around your ankles and you're sitting on the throne when woosh.. that door flies open??? Nobody has sophistication.

I usually think sophisticated is a smoke screen for etherialism. People think alcoholic beverages are sophisticated but they come in things that look like they are for kids. I find that funny. I think sophisticated is a politically correct euphamism for rich snob.

Yes, especially lawlers and attorneys, I know quite a few, theyre all pathetic slaves to their own ego's, accountants come in at a close second place.

I do think they are pretentious, because no one is so well put together all the time. Isn't it nice to ba able to be yourself and act goofy once in awhile?

I think a-lot of it has to do with their upbringing..social class..you know wealth!
And then you have the ones that have no class and try to portray themselves as something their not, to try and make up for their lack of
confidence..mostly an act!

Not really i guess there is areason why they are called sophisticated...because they do things that other dont really do... and i think they do it because like it.
