I recently watched "The Break-Up" with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. Watching Vaughn's character act so overtly insensitive and chauvinistic, I was astonished and ashamed to discover that I identified. It is well documented that women continue to do essentially all the housework in most marriages, not to mention child rearing and financial planning. I have always considered myself pretty progressive, but I guess it is easy to convince yourself that you're doing everything you can and -- well -- slack.
So, sadly, yes. Even many men who are paying attention and trying are ill prepared to pull their own weight. It may not be as overt as it used to be, but I think it remains pervasive.

More chauvenists are married than non-chauvenists. I've met lots of married guys who treat their wives like crap. I also know plenty of single guys who treat their girlfriends with respect. The difference is, the women don't respect the guys who treat them with respect.
